What the Rako RMT-500 is
The Rako RMT-500 is a 500W trailing-edge dimmer for Rako wireless systems. It dims mains dimmable LED and electronic low-voltage transformer loads and takes its commands over Rako's 433.9MHz wireless network. It is the mid-size trailing-edge module: the RMT-1200 takes larger loads and the RMT-PILL fits in a back box. For wire-wound transformers, Rako's leading-edge RML-500 is the matching module.
Where it sits in a Rako system
Once programmed, the RMT-500 responds to any Rako wireless transmitter, such as an RK-EOS-6 keypad or the RK-HUB. It stores its house, room and channel address plus up to 16 scenes. Program it from a Rako keypad, or with RASOFT Pro through a RAMPI or Hub. Where reception is weak, Rako recommends a WRB100 repeater. See all Rako wireless modules.
Ratings and limits
- Load range: 1W to 500W
- Mains dimmable LED: 250W maximum
- Electronic low-voltage transformer: 450W maximum
- Trailing-edge dimmable loads only
- Short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown
Power and connection
It runs from a 230V AC 50Hz supply, with 3-way screw terminals for supply and load that take cable up to 4mm². Rako's RMT-500 instruction manual covers installation, which should be done by a competent electrician.
Fitting
Designed to pass through a standard downlight cut-out into the ceiling void, or to be mounted centrally on the supplied bracket where lighting is wired back to one place. Rako specifies a dry, ventilated position away from enclosed metal casings, which block the wireless signal. It measures 138 x 46 x 40mm, weighs 120g and operates from +2°C to +40°C.

Questions
Does the Rako RMT-500 need a hub?
No. It works with any Rako wireless transmitter, such as a keypad. You need an RK-HUB for app control, voice assistants and timed events.
How much LED load can the RMT-500 dim?
Rako rates it at up to 250W of mains dimmable LED, from a 1W minimum. Electronic low-voltage transformer loads can reach 450W.
Is the RMT-500 wireless or wired?
Wireless. It belongs to Rako's wireless (Rakom RF) range and receives commands at 433.9MHz.
What is the difference between the RMT-500 and RMT-1200?
Both are wireless trailing-edge dimmers. The RMT-1200 is a larger unit rated at 1200W, or 600W of mains LED; the RMT-500 is rated at 500W, or 250W of mains LED.
Can the RMT-500 dim wire-wound transformers?
No. It is for trailing-edge dimmable loads only. The leading-edge RML-500 is the Rako module for those loads.
