What the Rako RMT-PILL is
The Rako RMT-PILL is a compact 250W trailing-edge dimmer for Rako wireless systems, made to sit in a back box rather than a ceiling void. That sets it apart from the RMT-500 and RMT-1200, which are larger in-line modules. It is not suitable for inductive loads such as wire-wound transformers or motors.
Where it sits in a Rako system
The RMT-PILL responds to any Rako wireless transmitter, such as an RK-EOS-6 keypad or the RK-HUB, and holds up to 16 scenes. Program it from a Rako keypad, or with RASOFT Pro through a RAMPI or Hub. An auxiliary input can take a third-party switch for local control; enabling it needs RASOFT Pro and a RAMPI or Hub. See all Rako wireless modules.
Ratings and limits
- With neutral: 1W to 250W, compatible trailing-edge dimmable LED or halogen
- Without neutral: 60W to 250W, mains tungsten or halogen only
- Not for LED without a neutral
- Not for low-voltage or other transformer-fed lighting without a neutral
Power and connection
It runs from a 230V AC 50Hz supply, with 2-way screw terminals for input and output that take cable up to 4mm². It communicates by FM radio at 433.9MHz. Rako's RMT-PILL instruction manual covers installation, which should be done by a competent electrician.
Fitting
Rako designs it for an earthed electrical back box or conduit box, with extra space allowed for cables. It measures 50 x 50 x 19.5mm, weighs 46g and operates from +2°C to +40°C.

Questions
Does the Rako RMT-PILL need a neutral?
For LED loads, yes. Without a neutral it can only dim mains tungsten or halogen, with a 60W minimum.
Does the RMT-PILL need a hub?
Not for everyday control from a Rako keypad. You need an RK-HUB for app and voice control, and a RAMPI or Hub to enable the auxiliary input.
Can I control the RMT-PILL from an ordinary switch?
Yes, through its auxiliary input once enabled in RASOFT Pro. The 2.54mm-pitch header connector is not included.
How is the RMT-PILL different from the RMT-500?
The RMT-PILL fits in a back box and is rated at 250W. The RMT-500 is a ceiling-void module rated at 500W overall.
