What the Rako RMT-1200 is
The Rako RMT-1200 is a 1200W trailing-edge dimmer for Rako wireless systems, built for mains dimmable LED and other trailing-edge dimmable loads. It is the largest of Rako's wireless trailing-edge modules: the RMT-500 covers loads up to 500W and the RMT-PILL fits in a back box. It is not suitable for inductive loads such as wire-wound transformers or motors.
Where it sits in a Rako system
The RMT-1200 is controlled from any Rako wireless transmitter, including RK-EOS-6 keypads and the RK-HUB. It stores its house, room and channel address plus up to 16 scenes. Program it from a Rako keypad, or with RASOFT Pro through a RAMPI or Hub. Rako recommends a WRB100 repeater where reception is intermittent. See all Rako wireless modules.
Ratings and limits
- Load range: 1W to 1200W
- Mains dimmable LED: 600W maximum
- Electronic low-voltage transformer: 1080W maximum
- Trailing-edge dimmable loads only; not for inductive loads
- Short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown
Power and connection
It runs from a 230V AC 50Hz supply, with 3-way screw terminals for supply and load that take cable up to 4mm². Rako's RMT-1200 instruction manual covers installation, which should be done by a competent electrician.
Fitting
Designed to sit in a ceiling void reached through an access panel, or to be wall mounted in an electrical cupboard. Rako specifies vertical mounting in a dry, ventilated position, away from enclosed metal casings that would block the wireless signal. It measures 190 x 105 x 66mm, weighs 495g and operates from +2°C to +40°C.

Questions
Does the Rako RMT-1200 need a hub?
No. Any Rako wireless transmitter, such as a keypad, can control it. An RK-HUB adds app control, voice assistants and timed events.
How much LED load can the RMT-1200 dim?
Rako rates it at up to 600W of mains dimmable LED. The 1200W figure is the overall maximum.
Can the RMT-1200 dim wire-wound transformers?
No. Rako states it is not suitable for inductive loads. The leading-edge RML-1200 is the equivalent for those loads.
Should I choose the RMT-1200 or the RMT-500?
Choose the RMT-1200 when the circuit exceeds the RMT-500's limits of 500W overall or 250W of mains LED.
Is the RMT-1200 wireless or wired?
Wireless. It is part of Rako's wireless (Rakom RF) range and receives commands at 433.9MHz.
