What the Rako RML-1200 is
The Rako RML-1200 is a 1200W leading-edge (inductive) dimmer for Rako wireless systems, for mains tungsten and halogen lighting and low-voltage lighting on leading-edge dimmable transformers. The RML-500 covers loads up to 500W. For mains dimmable LED, the trailing-edge RMT-1200 is the matching high-load module.
Where it sits in a Rako system
The RML-1200 is controlled from any Rako wireless transmitter, including RK-EOS-6 keypads and the RK-HUB, and stores up to 16 scenes. Program it from a Rako keypad, or with RASOFT Pro through a RAMPI or Hub. Rako recommends a WRB100 repeater where reception is intermittent. See all Rako wireless modules.
Ratings and limits
- Load range: 20W to 1200W (incandescent and halogen)
- Low-voltage transformer loads: 1080W maximum, leading-edge only
- Mains voltage LED: not recommended
- Short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown
Power and connection
It runs from a 230V AC 50Hz supply, with 3-way screw terminals for supply and load that take cable up to 4mm². It communicates by FM radio at 433.9MHz. Rako's RML-1200 instruction manual covers installation, which should be done by a competent electrician.
Fitting
Designed to sit in a ceiling void reached through an access panel, or to be wall mounted in an electrical cupboard. Rako specifies vertical mounting in a dry, ventilated position away from enclosed metal casings. It measures 190 x 105 x 66mm, weighs 555g and operates from +2°C to +40°C.

Questions
Can the Rako RML-1200 dim LED lamps?
Rako does not generally recommend it for mains LED. The trailing-edge RMT-1200 is the high-load choice for LED.
What is the minimum load on the RML-1200?
20W. The maximum is 1200W, or 1080W for low-voltage transformer loads.
Does the RML-1200 need a hub?
No. Any Rako wireless transmitter can control it. An RK-HUB adds app control, voice assistants and timed events.
Should I choose the RML-1200 or the RML-500?
Choose the RML-1200 when the circuit is over 500W, or over 450W of low-voltage transformer load.
