What the Rako RDA-800 is
The Rako RDA-800 is a multifunctional dimming controller for Rako wireless systems. It controls 0-10V, DSI or DALI drivers, with the output type selected on the unit, and switches the drivers' mains supply through an 800VA relay. That makes it different from mains dimmers such as the RMT-500, which dim the load directly.
Where it sits in a Rako system
The RDA-800 is controlled from any Rako wireless transmitter, such as an RK-EOS-6 keypad or the RK-HUB, and stores up to 16 scenes. Program it from a Rako keypad, or with RASOFT Pro through a RAMPI or Hub. Rako recommends a WRB100 repeater where reception is intermittent. See all Rako wireless modules.
Ratings and limits
- Mains relay output: 800VA
- DALI: up to 64 drivers
- DSI: up to 64 drivers
- 0-10V: up to 25 drivers
Power and connection
It runs from a 230V AC 50Hz supply and is fitted with a 5A 20mm fuse. It has screw terminals for mains and for the dimming control pair, taking cable up to 4mm². It communicates by FM radio at 433.9MHz. Rako's RDA-800 instruction manual covers installation, which should be done by a competent electrician.
Fitting
Designed for a ceiling void, or central mounting on the supplied bracket where lighting is wired back to one location. Rako specifies a dry, ventilated, accessible position. It measures 172 x 46 x 40mm, weighs 205g and operates from +2°C to +40°C.
Questions
Which drivers does the Rako RDA-800 control?
0-10V, DSI and DALI drivers and ballasts. The output type is selected on the unit.
How many drivers can one RDA-800 control?
Rako lists up to 64 DALI or 64 DSI drivers, or up to 25 on 0-10V, within the 800VA relay rating.
Does the RDA-800 dim mains lighting directly?
No. It dims through the drivers' control input and only switches their mains supply. For mains dimmable LED, use an RMT dimmer.
Does the RDA-800 need a hub?
No. Any Rako wireless transmitter can control it. An RK-HUB adds app control, voice assistants and timed events.
