What the Rako WANEX is
The Rako WANEX is a wired network extender made up of two isolated connection points, local and remote. It solves cable-length and connection-point problems in larger wired installations. For a central star point, the RAK-STAR is the usual choice.
Where it sits in a Rako system
It is powered from the RAK-LINK and passes the wired network through to a further section of cabling, where wired devices such as the WK-EOS-6 connect. See all Rako wired interfaces.
Ratings and limits
- Two isolated connection points (local and remote)
- For networks beyond 3000m radial or 1500m star cabling
- Cable: UTP CAT5e, CAT6, RJ11
Power and connection
Powered from the RAK-LINK through RJ11 or punch-down connection. Each side has an RJ11 port, a Krone connector and a concentric jack. It communicates over CAN. Rako's WA-NEX instruction manual covers installation.
Fitting
It measures 190 x 105 x 66mm, weighs 280g and operates from +2°C to +40°C.
Questions
When do I need a Rako WANEX?
When a wired network would exceed 3000m of radial or 1500m of star cabling, or where a RAK-STAR cannot be installed.
How is the WANEX powered?
From the RAK-LINK, over RJ11 or punch-down connection.
Is the WANEX the same as the WA-NEX?
Yes. Rako's documents use the name WA-NEX.
